Converting to BSAC - Cross Over Training

For many people, their first taste of SCUBA diving is whilst on holiday and they may have completed a course with another organisation as part of that experience. The BSAC welcomes all divers and offers a mechanism for converting other organisations' qualifications into recognised BSAC ones.

Why is converting your existing qualification important? Well, when you dive with someone who has trained with a different organisation to yourself, you will need to ensure that you are both speaking the same 'diving language'. Signals etc may be different to what you are used to and your decompression schedules should both be calculated from the same tables to ensure you remain together throughout your dive. The BSAC cross over courses are simple, short courses, which teach you about the BSAC and how to use the BSAC '88 decompression tables.

The following table lists, for example, PADI qualifications and the requirements to convert them to their BSAC equivalents. There are many other diving organisations and the BSAC will recognise many other qualifications. For more information, please contact our training officer using our contact form.
